Moving? Downsizing? We understand that it's more complicated to move with a pet. Many apartments don't allow pets over a certain size or of certain breeds. Landlords limit the number of pets. And pet deposits can add up. You may think the solution is to leave your pet at a local shelter and hope it finds a new home. But many family pets die at shelters every day because their owners thought this.
If you need to move
Check online rental search engines that cater to pet-friendly housing such as

Try convincing your landlord to allow your pet. This
study shows that pet-friendly housing rents for more money and the tenants stay longer - both things landlords like. Prove to your prospective landlord how well-behaved and well-trained your pet is. Show them any training certificates or Canine Good Citizen certificates your pet has earned. If you crate your pet when you're not home, make sure your landlord knows that.
