Gmails labels are a handy way to organize emails and to let other volunteers know the status of an email conversation.
Background
The PASS labels were originally created by GTDInbox, a firefox plug-in that uses gmail's labels to set up a GTD-style task management system. GTDInbox divides labels into groups for Project (P), Context (C), Status (S) and Reference (R) by prefacing the label with the indicated letter and a forward slash. While more than one label can be applied to an email, GTDInbox only allows one status label to be applied to each email. So some things that should be status labels are in the project group instead.
