Tips for Bored Cats

Most often pets act out because they are bored and not receiving enough exercise or stimulation.  Here are a couple of suggestions, some of which you may have already tried, and some that may be new. They may not cure your pet's issues, but they should help.

  1. Each day hide treats throughout the house so your cat has to look for them.  Not too many though because we don't want an overwieght kitty with other health issues.  Or you can just hide a portion of the dry food they would normally get every day.
  2.  Do you have a large cat tree for your cat to climb on? - that is important - try to put in next to a window
  3.  Rub catnip on soft toys and put a different one out every day.  They get bored of the same toys if they are always out.
  4.  Put a bird feeder outside the window
  5.  Get a laser light toy - some cats love these and it's a way for them to have fun, but doesn't involve chewing.
  6.   The most effective solution would probably be to get another cat for your kitty to play with.  Not always the option most pet owners want to hear, but most cats prefer to have a buddy and will chase and play with them to keep their minds and bodies active.
